Peru (S4:E14): gigantischer Tagebau in der ewig kalten Anden-Stadt / Motorradreise

The drive from Baños to Cerro de Pasco was certainly one of the coldest of our entire Peru trip, but also one of the most impressive. First, we drove through the beautiful Huayhuash trekking region with its almost perfectly organized Raura mine. Unfortunately, we got caught in a storm with snow, sleet, and rain, but this didn't detract from the area's beauty. After a short stop in Oyon, we continued on to Cerro de Pasco that same day. We had been warned that it would be very cold there (which it was), but no one had told us about the gigantic open-pit mine located there. We were quite astonished when we saw this enormous hole in the middle of town the next morning. The subsequent drives to Huancayo and Huanta were considerably more pleasant, though not quite as exceptional as the day before. Enjoy this interesting episode!
