DQ4「勇者の故郷」を聴き比べ＆リミックスしてみた～ゲーム音源比較：ファミコン／PS1／DS

This video compares the field theme “Homeland of the Hero” from “Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen” across the Famicom, PlayStation, and Nintendo DS versions. Additionally, a remix combining all three versions is featured. The piece plays at the start of Chapter 5, after the hero’s hometown has been destroyed by monsters and you first venture out into the field. The melody strongly evokes the sorrow and loneliness of the sole surviving hero. Each version captures this feeling in its own way. Both the PS1 and DS versions stay faithful to the orchestral arrangement and use a two-loop structure. While there are sound differences, you might not notice a dramatic gap between them. The DS version is unique in that the tempo slows down at the end of the second loop. This remix was adjusted to match the PS1 version. The Famicom version’s high-pitched sounds have been softened just enough to reduce harshness, resulting in an overall simple and pure tone. Artwork shown comes from each version’s package and manual.
