Made in Shildon - Taster - A visit to the G5 workshop in Shildon
As part of our work to mark 40 years since the closure of Shildon Works, we went down to a workshop on the former works site where a small company is building a heritage Worsdell G5 locomotive of the type that hauled local passenger trains around the North Eastern region. Appropriately some of this engine type once operated from the huge 'triple roundhouse' engine shed that still stands on the former Shildon Works site today.
