Yes, what better way to recharge than a well-deserved break after making great progress with the van conversion? 😁 Step 2: Which destination?: My priority: sun, warmth, a complete change of scenery (landscape, culture, exploration...), and beautiful beaches where the water temperature is at least 28°C (82°F)... So why not the Dominican Republic! Step 3: The price? It's important to set your initial budget and, above all, not exceed it... Let's see, what good deals could I find? 🤔... I book the plane tickets, then a hotel, I rent a car, I compare with the vacation packages... Well, yes, I tested quite a few offers, and here's my conclusion for this trip at least: The best offer was the all-inclusive stay: Firstly: I didn't want to be bored cooking every day. Yes, I said total immersion! 😅 And secondly: the price difference between all-inclusive and half-board was really minimal. The most frequently offered destination in the Dominican Republic was Punta Cana. Step 4: I won't lie, before diving headfirst into booking, I continued comparing hotels and packages. 4 months before departure - Organization: After considering all the criteria, I selected several hotels (around 6-7). It was a difficult choice... and I'd advise you: don't hesitate to read reviews, which provide details about the rooms, meals, activities, staff, etc. Don't hesitate to copy the hotel name into your internet search engine, as prices can vary considerably between different websites. The good news is that after about two months of selecting and comparing (don't worry, I wasn't checking every day 🙄), prices have actually dropped compared to when I started my research (6 months before departure). I think it's best not to book your trip too close to your departure date, as prices tend to increase. Proof of this is that after booking, I didn't hesitate to check, and I can guarantee you that prices can really skyrocket! Before booking: don't hesitate to look for discount codes. For this 10-day all-inclusive stay in Punta Cana at a 5-star hotel, I got a 9% discount on the price (I booked through Macifavantages). Two months before departure, what to visit: The excitement is building, you're getting closer and closer to the date... so what to visit? What to do?
