To do this, Jesus employs metaphoric language, calling Himself “the true vine”, the Father “the vinedresser”, and His disciples “the branches.” Branches which bear no fruit are removed and destroyed, but branches that bear fruit receive pruning by the Father so they bear more. In this passage we come to see that those who are in Christ will undergo Divine pruning, increase in fruitfulness, experience answered prayer, and will have fullness of joy.
