He has been touring Europe with Electric Callboy for six years, and for six years, “we belong together,” as he describes it in the video. Because despite all the professionalism, one can't help but get the impression: This is a group of friends on the road, having a pretty good time. And a successful one at that: What started as four lights in a bus trailer has now grown to six trucks that the band and crew travel in. To keep his youthful energy somewhat in check, a technical planning office, mb-media Live, was brought on board to keep Patrick on his toes. Beams and a colorful stage: Bringing the club atmosphere to the arena As boisterous as the ideas in his head may be, the lighting setup is remarkably organized: He manages to conjure up a club feeling even in larger arenas with just a handful of different lamp types. And if the venue happens to be a bit smaller, two levels are simply omitted from the three-tiered stage design. Then the floor set is brought onto the stage. And the aisle lighting: This is important to become independent of the existing front lighting, because Patrick has apparently had some unpleasant experiences with that, as he reports. So, to the left and right of the band, MAC Quantum Wash fixtures from Martin provide depth and visibility for the artists. Robe MegaPointe fixtures are responsible for the beam show, and four Robe BMFL fixtures provide the front lighting. GLP's JDC1 units serve as strobe and wash fixtures. For the blind spots, Patrick relies on Roxx Light's Cluster B4 W: virtually indistinguishable from their venerable incandescent predecessors to the naked eye, yet significantly less maintenance-intensive. It was an easy decision. Finally, the RoboSpot system from Robe, which controls two lights, should also be mentioned. All the lighting and sound equipment was provided by TDA Clair from Bottrop. "The guys want it to rock!" That's how Dominik "Bollo" Sabolovic describes his assignment. He's actually more into classic rock than "screaming metal" (the fact that this term wasn't criticized during the video's approval process speaks volumes about the band and how seriously they take themselves). He used Electric Callboy's support tours to observe the more experienced sound engineers who mixed the headliners – and the result was impressive at the Arena Leipzig. He describes his job as not entirely easy, but he's involved in the creation of the live sound from the very beginning and strives to handle as much as possible before the microphone even reaches the microphone. And he succeeds brilliantly. What else would you expect when you get to work with your favorite system? In this case, the GSL and KSL systems from d&b audiotechnik, along with their corresponding subwoofers. System technician Connor Scanlon pays close attention to bass distribution. He achieves this with SL subwoofers, some flown and others positioned in front of the stage. Flames, Pyrotechnics, and Confetti Dennis Westensee from FOG fireworks and sfx, with the calm that's absolutely essential for his job, talks about the immense number of special effects that Electric Callboy have him set off every night. Three control consoles are at his workstation, two of them as backups, which he's never actually needed. He announces each cue to the band so the musicians can move out of harm's way. Monitoring: The System with Two Hearts Nils “Labbi” Labenz is responsible for the band's monitor sound and highlights two key components of his setup in the video: an Allen & Heath dLive console and a KLANG:conductor processor from KLANG. In the video, he reveals more about his sophisticated setup, which not only ensures the band can hear themselves clearly but also manages crew communication, utilizing a Green-GO intercom system.
