She Buys $40,000 Jeep with 3 Fake Checks

Bodycam video: Between April 26, 2025, and May 6, 2025, 29-year-old Gerdy Nate went to a car dealership to purchase a 2023 Jeep Gladiator, a vehicle with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of approximately $40,000. Gerdy gave the dealership three $9,500 checks as a down payment. The checks appeared to be “business checks” that had been made to resemble “cashier’s checks.” Believing the checks were legitimate cashier’s checks, the dealership released the Jeep to Gerdy before the funds had been deposited or cleared. The dealership later discovered that the checks were not genuine cashier’s checks.
