Why Did These Trousers Keep Getting Bigger? 🤔

One of the things I didn't fully appreciate when I started sewing with stretch fabrics is that not all stretch behaves the same way. These trousers were originally made for my trip to India. I loved the fabric. I loved how comfortable they were. I loved how cool they felt in the heat. There was just one problem: The more I wore them, the bigger they seemed to get. At the time, I couldn't understand why. What I've since learned is that stretch percentage can have a much bigger impact on garment sizing than I realised. Two fabrics can look very similar, but behave completely differently once they're worn, stretched and allowed to drape under their own weight.
