Most people only think about the door materials like WOODEN DOORS, GLASS DOORS, ALUMINUM DOORS, ACM, etc., and also the types of door openings like hinged doors, SLIDING DOORS, PIVOTING DOORS, ACCORDION DOORS, FOLDING DOORS, BALCONY DOORS, etc. But the truth is that there are many options for INTERIOR and exterior doors, but something that few people really worry about is whether they will use a READY-MADE DOOR or a CONVENTIONAL DOOR. The doubt exists because many people don't know the advantages and disadvantages of a READY-MADE DOOR KIT compared to a conventional wooden door, and in this video I want to help you with that. Let's start by talking about the traditional model. Wooden doors are sold in separate pieces, such as the door frame, door leaf, trim, hinges, and handle. Installation usually begins during the masonry phase of construction, where the door frame is fixed to the wall. This can even be done before the plastering and rendering. The downside of this installation stage is that the door frame can suffer minor damage during construction. Later in the construction process, the carpenter installs the door leaf, hinges, and locks. Finally, towards the end of construction, the painter applies varnish or paints the door using enamel paint. In other words, there are at least three professionals and three phases of construction involved in installing a door. WOODEN DOORS should be treated against termites, and their preparation for painting requires sanding, primer, and synthetic enamel paint. In case of imperfections, filler can be applied, sanded, and then painted. If the door is very worn, sawdust and white glue can be used to fill small holes, followed by sanding. Some doors are already purchased ready-made, already painted, and others with a primer. Check if you need the complete kit with frame or jamb, trim or molding, door leaf and lock, or if you only need to replace one of these parts. These can be wooden doors for the living room, sliding wooden doors, wooden doors for the bedroom, etc. They can be made of various types of wood such as angelim, peroba, ipê, cumaru, etc. We have solid doors, which are the most resistant; we have solid core doors, which have several pieces of pine wood and a front finish; we also have semi-hollow core doors, such as battened core doors and honeycomb core doors, which are more fragile and only suitable for interior doors. Ready-made doors are sold in kits with everything included: door, trim, frame, locks, etc. They are standardized in size and finish, maintaining the same appearance across all doors, requiring no maintenance, painting, or anything else, and are very resistant to moisture, yellowing, etc. Its installation is very practical, taking less than 20 minutes in total working hours, while a conventional wooden door can take more than 2 hours. Installation can involve 24 hours of expanding foam, and then simply attaching the trim and the door is installed. It's possible to install dozens of doors in the same day by a single person, saving construction time and optimizing logistics. They can be made of wood, PVC, or a combination of both materials. These doors do not require termite treatment and maintain a good finish for many years. They also have adjustable trim to help with walls that are out of plumb. The downside of these doors is that they cannot be resized on-site as they are standardized. We cannot replicate their finish on-site if necessary, we cannot make standardized sizes, and the ready-made door kit is more expensive per unit than a conventional wooden door. However, when we consider all the logistics I mentioned, the prices can be very similar.
