Thomas Hird, Westray Farm, Cockermouth
Jonathan Hodgson, interviews Thomas Hird who comes from a family who have totally put their trust in The Nemsa Mule and the Suffolk Tup. Following on from his parents and other family members, Thomas who farms in his own right along side a shearing round, has taken up the mantle to continue in this vein. In his system he predominantly buys Mule gimmer lambs in September at 6 months old, they are tupped as hoggs and then resold as Shearlings in the next year.
