Houston Matters Full Episode - July 14, 2026

We talk with HPM's Bianca Seward about the Texas Education Agency saying Houston ISD violated federal disability law when it overhauled special education services this spring. Then, we're joined by Juli McShay, civics professor at San Jacinto College, and Michaela Booker, Founder and Executive Director of Black Girls Politickin, as we continue our series looking at the state of different aspects of our lives in Greater Houston, now focusing on local politics. Also, we talk with author Joseph Locke about his new book that explores the role that religion has played in our state's history. Finally, there was outcry when NASA announced its next Artemis mission would have no women on the crew. We've come a long way since the first class of astronauts that included women faced intense media scrutiny. One of them, Houstonian Anna Lee Fisher, shares her story.
