Shoji and kumiko patterns 04 Making an asanoha coaster
In this video, I show you how to make the square asa-no-ha (麻の葉) kumiko pattern. The pattern is made into a drink coaster, which makes an ideal gift with a very personalised touch. Details on the different methods of making the asa-no-ha pattern, and all the jigs needed are in my book Shoji and Kumiko Design - Book 1 The Basics. Dimensions for the coaster: Kumiko pitch - 44.0 mm Diagonals: 57.7 mm Hinge pieces: 29.3 mm Locking pieces: 16.5 mm Photos of the asa-no-ha and the many other patterns I've made can be seen on my website at kskdesign.com.au
