Railfanning Dobbin Junction, TX 9/16/2025

Here is a compilation of trains I caught around Dobbin TX where the BNSF Conroe Subdivision and BNSF Houston Subdivision cross and connect at both south and north wye's. In total this junction only sees about 12-15 trains per day but can have good meets and provides good curve shots and hill climbs particularly on the Conroe Subdivision. One of my absolute favorite places to railfan around home. This was one of the slightly busier afternoons where track work caused most of the trains the bunch up in the last 3 hours. You will notice BNSF 8476 leading an empty coal train around north wye and pulls into the Price siding for a crew change. This is a daily service that routes coal empties from Donie (DON) coal plant south down the Houston Subdivision to Dobbin, where it then wyes and turns westbound back to the powder river basin. The loaded comes in from the DFW metroplex. This is due to the directional routing nature of the Houston Subdivision. Typically the empties arrive around sundown and frequently ties down for a few hours or more at Price before contiouing west. This evening was a rare occasion where they had an outbound crew waiting and took off a bit behind the H-LALTPL. Enjoy!
