The rest are either rigid or flexible materials that are fused to the core material, PU on the other hand is painted onto the core material. There are two broad reasons why PU is so awesome. Firstly...It's a polymer. PU stands for Polyurethane. Polymers are essentially engineered materials designed to possess certain physical properties. With Polyurethane it's been designed to be hard, strong, stretchable, resistant to heat, moisture, scratches, abrasions and dents. The second awesome reason is you can spray paint this superhero liquid onto a core material such as MDF or HDF-HMR. If the core material has grooves or any relief work, PU will evenly coat it and get into all those tiny crevices and detailing. The only other material capable of this is membrane. PU however looks like a million bucks when you are done with it.
