How much would you pay for friendly staff, delicious dinners, and the best view of the Hunza Valley? We really enjoyed our stay at The Eagle’s Nest Hotel! The staff was kid-friendly and taught our kids how to play cricket. Even after living in Chennai, India, for two years, this was the first time anyone offered to teach our kids how to throw and hit like real cricket players. The kids loved this, and it was definitely a highlight for them. Another highlight was watching the sunset over Nothern Pakistan’s Hunza Valley. The whole Gilgit-Baltistan area has surprised us with its beautiful rock cliffs, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, rivers, and abundant fruit trees. If you visit Gilgit, be sure to catch the sunrise and sunset each day. You will not regret it! Also, if you are in Gilgit, be sure to have dinner at the Eagle’s Nest because the dinners are delicious (we recommend: the homemade soup, fresh spring rolls, fish, bread, and the mutton). Don’t forget to pick up snacks at the local Tuck Shops (Is that a play on “truck stops” and “tuk tuks”?).
