SEASON 8 - PROJECT MASTER'S BOW

Rob Pijper walks us through the bow area at the ICON plc Yachts shipyard in Holland, where major transformation work is underway on this impressive 70m conversion project. One of the biggest changes is the removal of the retractable thruster originally located below deck, which is no longer needed for the vessel’s new operational profile. The original variable pitch bow thruster was also replaced due to excessive noise levels, now upgraded to a fixed pitch variable bow thruster for improved performance and comfort. The middle section of the bow has been newly fabricated and carefully integrated with the original structure. The anchors will be reused as they remain in excellent condition, requiring only sandblasting and an overhaul of the top components. The bow will also receive stainless steel cladding, giving the yacht a refined finish similar to other modern luxury yachts. At 70 m with an exceptionally wide beam, the yacht offers incredible views throughout. One of the most meticulous challenges of the conversion was aligning the three forward windows perfectly, a detail the team executed with precision. The bridge wings extend beyond the vessel’s normal breadth, enhancing both functionality and presence. And from the very top of the bow, the view is simply spectacular.
