Ukraine's successful counteroffensive in Donetsk; Kyiv takes control of key territory in the region

Vladimir Grubnik, a popular Russian Z-blogger and the author of the channel "Ghost of Novorossiya," declared the situation critical for the Russian army in the occupied territories of the Donetsk region. He attributed this situation to the effective use of Ukrainian drones. This is stated by Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky , in which he analyzes the statements of Russian propagandists and war correspondents. According to Grubnik, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have significantly expanded the strike range of drones, which are now capable of attacking Russian targets in the rear over tens and even more than 100 kilometers. Warehouses, command posts, repair bases, fuel trucks, and military transport—in other words, virtually all key military targets—are under attack. Grubnik noted that Ukrainian UAVs are effectively disrupting Russian logistics around Donetsk, making troop movements and supplies increasingly difficult. He also acknowledged the high level of Ukrainian intelligence, which allows for precision strikes against occupier targets. According to the blogger, the situation for Russian troops in the region has become worse than it was in 2024, despite the Russian army's continued attempts to break through the front. "The enemy has expanded its zone of influence to such a level that the Donetsk Ring Road—no need to explain its significance—is under attack. The enemy is currently employing the following tactic: they're deploying kamikaze drones, similar to aircraft, along the roads, with fairly good communications ," complains the military blogger. Grubnik also stated that Russian troops are forced to change tactics and camouflage themselves by any means necessary and at any cost, including using civilian vehicles and clothing. Such actions clearly pose a threat to the civilian population, but the occupiers are disregarding this. It will take the Russians about several years to completely occupy the Ukrainian Donetsk region. This is the assessment of the OSINT project DeepState in the comments to LIGAnet voiced by the resource's co-founder Roman Pohorilyi. Within talks about ending the war the Russians regularly demand that Ukraine hand over Donbas. At the same time, as early as February 2026, a NATO official declared that the Alliance does not expect the collapse of the Ukrainian front in the Donetsk region for at least a year and a half – and even the emergence of this deadline does not mean that the Russians will be able to completely seize the region. "I don't know how they calculated, but we also estimate, based on our analytics, at the pace that is happening now: it will take the Russians about two years to take the Kramatorsk-Slovyansk agglomeration and the rest of the Donetsk region, with a colossal number of losses. Therefore, I completely agree. Maybe a little more time than NATO said, but I agree with the opinion that the Russians will not succeed so easily," Pohorilyi commented on this assessment. He noted that this is "the answer to the question of whether we should give up our territory just like that."
