Collins ARC-174 / 718U-5 operating FT8 (MSHV & GridTracker2)

My Collins ARC-174 is up and running. Video gives and overview of the system and shows a 20m FT8 contact. I use MSHV for FT8 with the companion GridTracker2 to log contacts & provide details of the contact. The ARC-174 is also used in civilian aircraft and known as the Collins 718U-5. It comprises Control unit 514A-7, receiver/exciter 671U-4A mounted in tray 990C-3 with Amp/Coupler 548S-3. Operates on standard aircraft 26V DC. Draws just over 2A on receive and around 13A on transmit. Covers 2MHz to 29.999MHz. I have this connected to ABP-HEAS-1 external amplified speaker. For digital connection I am using my USBRigLink which is ideal for this application. It is an external USB sound card that provides good RF isolation & has an automatic PTT derived from the TX audio signal. So no messy PTT wiring needed for these older rigs.
