Railroad Earth - "Been Down This Road"
Featured on the Putumayo collection "Bluegrass." Originally released on May 22nd, 2012. From the liner notes: New Jersey-based Railroad Earth plays an eclectic blend of roots music, including twangy country rock, folk and bluegrass. Named after the Jack Kerouac story, “October in the Railroad Earth,” the band sometimes addresses political and social issues in its songs. It features mandolinist John Skehan, fiddler Tim Carbone, multi-instrumentalist Andy Goessling (guitar, banjo, flute and penny-whistle), Johnny Grubb (bass) and Carey Harmon (drums) and usually performs originals such as “Been Down This Road” which was written by lead vocalist/guitarist Todd Sheaffer. Like many of the new bands that have embraced bluegrass, Railroad Earth doesn’t shy away from drums. “Been Down This Road” was recorded in a 300-year-old farmhouse in rural New Jersey for the album Amen Corner.
