Two Days in Ernakulam — Amma's Embrace at Edappally

There are journeys that end where love is fullest. Such was the arrival of Amma at the Edappally Brahmasthanam — the final stop of a thirteen-day Bharata Yatra that had carried Amma from Mangaluru to Kozhikode to Thrissur, and now home to Ernakulam. As evening softened over the city, Amma was welcomed with a traditional Purna Kumbham by Surya Kaladi Mana Suryan Jayasuryan Bhattathiripad, to the resounding chants of mantras and the rhythms of temple percussion. As is Her way, there was no pause — Amma went straight to the gathered devotees, sat in meditation with them, sang bhajans, and lovingly served prasad to every soul who had come. On Day 1, Amma spoke of the futility of bargaining with Nature. "Human beings try to resolve their differences through negotiations and compromises. And now we are attempting the same approach with Nature," She said. "Negotiations may work between people, communities, political parties and nations — but with Nature, no such understanding is possible. There, only humility, a bowed head, and a heart filled with friendship and reverence will bear fruit." Amritakeerti awardee and renowned writer Sri C. Radhakrishnan offered a moving tribute: "Everything begins with Amma. Just as every particle on this Earth is interconnected, Amma is able to communicate with each and every being — and that is something truly magnificent." Distinguished guests honoured Amma — Ernakulam District Collector G. Priyanka IAS; City Police Commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar IPS; NPOL Director Duvvuri Seshagiri; music composer Rahul Raj; Ernakulam DFO Manu Sathyan; Gopalakrishnan Kunhi, Executive Director of Tantra Vidya Peetham; Dr. P. Nandakumar, National Secretary of Samskrita Bharati; Gopal K. Nair, Chairman of Nirmal Jyothi Public School; and Ranjith Kanchilal. The Amritavarshini 2026 souvenir was received from Amma by Sri C. Radhakrishnan and formally released to City Police Commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar IPS. Sarees were lovingly distributed to AmritaSREE members from Ernakulam district. On Day 2, Amma turned to the very heart of life itself. "Love is the capital of life," Amma said in Her benedictory address. "If we lose it, we become completely bankrupt. We should strive to earn more of the profit called love, and fill the treasury of our hearts." True growth in society, Amma reminded, can come only through sharing. Amma was welcomed by MLAs T.J. Vinod and Deepak Joy; Justice C.N. Ramachandran; retired Justice P.R. Raman; Kochi Mayor V.K. Minimol; renowned film director Jayaraj; actor Amala Paul; Kochi Metro MD Loknath Behera IPS; Dr. K.K. Saju, Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University; C.K.V. Pradeep Kumar, Director of Central Warehousing Corporation; and Venugopal C. Govind. Saplings were distributed for World Environment Day, and hundreds of devotees participated in the Shani Dosha Nivarana Puja held at the Brahmasthanam. Across both days, meditation, bhajans, and Amma's tireless darshan flowed unbroken into the early hours of the morning — Amma's arms never tiring, Her smile never fading. After thirteen days of grace — Mangaluru, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam — Amma has now returned home to Amritapuri.
