Maine is known around the world for its beautiful scenery, premium sustainable seafood, and hardworking people. Today, a new generation of mariners, comprised of fishermen, fishing families, young entrepreneurs, and other Mainers has pioneered a new industry for the state: aquaculture. The first video in our "Faces of Maine's Working Waterfront" series highlights Cooke Aquaculture, a family-owned company that has been raising Atlantic salmon Down East for over 35 years. Today, the company has grown to provide over 200 jobs for Maine people, and has helped diversify the working waterfront in the state while providing a source of healthy, local, sustainable seafood for consumers.
