The "Big Loop" - Our East Coast Motorcycle Adventure. (EP:1) - Amherstburg, ON to Cartwright, NL

“The Big Loop” our East Coast Motorcycle Adventure! EPISODE 1: Amherstburg, Ontario to Cartwright, Newfoundland & Labrador. In 2025 my wife Leslie and I embarked on our “Big Loop” trip to Eastern Canada and the USA. The previous year when we rode to Alaska and the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk, we had our son Michael with us. This year he couldn’t make it due to school and work, so it would be just the two of us. During our 2025 East Coast Loop, we travelled over 10,000 kms in 50 days from our home in Amherstburg, Ontario Canada to Quebec, the Trans Labrador Highway with a ferry to the Island of Newfoundland, another ferry to Nova Scotia riding the famous Cabot Trail , circumnavigated Prince Edward Island, kayaked the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, crossed into Maine, USA for the WIMA (Women’s International Motorcycle Association) event, including a ride up Mount Washington, across New Hampshire, Vermont, upstate New York and back into Canada at Niagara Falls and home. The Big Loop! This trip also completed our goal of visiting all four compass points in Canada by motorcycle in one year’s time! Tuktoyaktuk, NWT in the North, the Alaska/Yukon border(the AlCan and Top of the World Highway) to the West, Point Pelee National Park in Leamington, ON near our home to the South and finally the missing piece: Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, NL to the East! What a privilege to be able to experience these amazing places and so much in between! We’re so grateful for all of the experiences we’ve had, especially new friends we’ve made and family we had the chance to see again. Our Bunk a Biker hosts were absolutely amazing! I can’t say enough about the generosity of the motorcycle family. We’re also proud to have been “screeched in” as honorary Newfoundlanders! My wife Leslie rides a 2019 Honda CB500x and I ride a 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Come along with us on our adventure!
