An ectopic pregnancy is a condition in which the gestational sac or tissue (placenta) implants outside the uterus rather than inside it. The vast majority of ectopic pregnancies occur in the fallopian tubes (tubes) located between the uterus and the ovaries. To diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, a pregnancy test must first be performed. If the BetaHCG level is above 1500-2000, the gestational sac should be visible within the uterus. If the gestational sac is not visible at this stage, an ectopic pregnancy is present. Factors that can cause an ectopic pregnancy include pelvic infections, previous surgeries (e.g., endometriosis or cyst surgeries), IUDs (intrauterine devices), hormonal contraceptive methods, and advanced maternal age.
