UArizona’s Accelerated Global Campus Expansion
UArizona’s Accelerated Global Campus Expansion Subscribe: http://go.arizona.edu/yt-subscribe University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins is joined by the Vice Provost for Global Affairs Brent White following a major announcement by the University. The Global team has been working to accelerate plans that have been in progress for years: The University of Arizona Global Campus. Now, students around the world who want to study and earn a degree from the University of Arizona may do so remotely, but still have an in-person community experience at partner campuses, or ‘the Global Campus’ at more than 130 locations across 34 countries. Students can also live and study in purpose-built residential communities through a partnership with GSA, a global leader in student accommodations. So, while travel between world countries is restricted due to COVID-19, students do not need to suspend their ambitions to learn from a top research university like Arizona. Having a global perspective is critical to students and their future careers. And being a global university is one of the top pillars of the University of Arizona strategic plan. Before COVID-19 forced students to go home to their countries, there were more than 4,000 international students on campus in Tucson. The vision of the Global Campus is a way to reach millions of students where they are rather than being location dependent. Brent shares that no university comes close to the network his team has established, which is still growing. The University of Arizona existed before Arizona was a state. Our first graduating class in 1895 consisted of two women and one male. Since then, we've learned that we're better together. We do more when we work across backgrounds, skills and perspectives. That's how we've become long-time partners with NASA, leaders in both the arts and sciences, and able to prepare students to succeed in a world where most of the jobs today's kindergartners will have don't even exist yet. We know how to converge. #universityofarizona #arizona #university
