Born in 1946, Nicodemus stands out for his profound ability to teach and communicate the message of the Gospel, as well as his dedication to the ministry and the development of the Church. In Colossians 2:8, Paul warns, “See that no one cheats you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” This warning warns us not to be carried away by doctrines that distort the truth of God’s Word. The Gnostic view often minimizes the reality of Christ’s incarnation, disregarding the fullness of His divinity and humanity. In 1 John 4:2, Scripture teaches us to discern spirits: “Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.” Therefore, denying the incarnation is a clear sign of heresy. Furthermore, we must be alert to the temptation to seek knowledge apart from divine revelation. In James 1:5, we are exhorted to ask God for wisdom, who gives generously. Our source of truth must always be Scripture, not human theories. Therefore, let this warning remind us of the importance of standing firm in the doctrine of the Christian faith, ensuring that our beliefs are rooted in biblical truth. By doing so, we will avoid the deceptive paths of heresies such as Gnosticism and remain in the truth that liberates and saves.
