Woodturning - I Didn't Know What This Was Until My Mom Saw It!

So I have had a lump of cherry on the workshop floor for a few months now. It's too small to make a vase, and as I have made so many live edge bowls/dishes I thought it would be boring to make another. So I decided to make a salt pig, however, I'm now discovering that the name "salt pig" comes from the fact that the container resembles a small pig. The design typically features a snout-like spout for dispensing the salt, and the container may be decorated with features like ears, eyes, and a curly tail. So, in short, I have created two pots that can hold Salt, but aren't really your typical Salt Pig. Also, the reason I created two was that the Spalted beech bowl was supposed to be the lid of the live-edge cherry dish, but it really didn't look right. Maybe I need to try to make an actual Salt pig, what do you think? The first one is made from Wild Chery and an Ornamental cherry for the lid. The second is made from Spalted Beech. Both have been finished with food-safe oil. Let me know which one you like best! Some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest, so when using any tool or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines first. And Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practice. The gloves I wear are tight-fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT copy my actions if you feel unsafe doing so.
