Energías Renovables- Producción de Biodiesel - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel

Twitter @juangangel Biodiesel (biofuel) is a liquid obtained from natural lipids such as vegetable oils or animal fats, with or without prior use,1 through industrial esterification and transesterification processes. It is used in the preparation of total or partial substitutes for petrodiesel or diesel obtained from petroleum. Biodiesel can be blended with diesel from petroleum refining in different quantities. Abbreviated notations are used according to the percentage by volume of biodiesel in the blend: B100 if only biodiesel is used, or other notations such as B5, B15, B30, or B50, where the numbering indicates the percentage by volume of biodiesel in the blend. Vegetable oil, whose engine propulsion properties have been known since the invention of the diesel engine thanks to the work of Rudolf Diesel, was already used for combustion in conventional or adapted diesel-cycle engines. At the beginning of the 21st century, in the context of the search for new renewable energy sources, its development was promoted for use in automobiles as an alternative fuel to petroleum derivatives. Biodiesel decomposes natural rubber, making it necessary to replace it with synthetic elastomers when using fuel blends with a high biodiesel content. The environmental impact and social consequences of its foreseeable mass production and marketing, especially in developing countries or in the Third and Fourth World, lead to increased deforestation of native forests, the indiscriminate expansion of the agricultural frontier, the displacement of food and livestock crops, the destruction of ecosystems and biodiversity, and the displacement of rural workers. Recently, it has been proposed to call it agrodiesel since the prefix "bio-" is often mistakenly associated with something ecological and environmentally friendly. However, some petroleum product brands already refer to agricultural diesel or diesel B, used in agricultural machinery, as agrodiesel.
