$4,600 Porsche 996 Repair Bill: Gundo Hack & Fixing a "Mystery Leak" on my 1999 911

The latest invoice is here! 💸 This video breaks down the full cost of getting my 1999 Porsche 996 back in top shape, which totalled over $4,600. [Apologies for the delay, I've been travelling and caught the flu - but we're back!] After months of driving, it was time to tackle (some more) deferred maintenance, aesthetic issues, and a worrying fluid leak. I dropped the car off at Ruben's shop (Northern Modern And Classic) and got back a laundry list of fixes and one excellent performance upgrade. What was fixed & modified: The Gundo Hack: We turned a rattling muffler repair into the legendary, cost-effective exhaust modification that gives the flat-six engine a deeper, more aggressive sound (it’s permanently in "sports exhaust mode" now!). Mystery Leak Solved: What I thought was a power steering leak turned out to be a leaking Differential Output Seal—a critical fix that was surprisingly affordable. Aesthetic Upgrades: Replacement of all the tired, faded plastic trim, including the Windscreen Scuttle Cover, front latch trim, and door jamb pieces. Horn and Brake Light: Fixed the intermittent horn issue (a blown high-tone horn assembly) and replaced the crumbling High Mount Brake Light Assembly. The Unexpected Surprise: A shorting Seat Control Module was caught and re-mounted before it could cause a serious issue. Was the Gundo Hack and the peace of mind worth the total bill?
