Travel to Vietnam | 22 days | Info, Costs & Recommendations

In April 2025 we travelled, with our good friends from Germany, to Vietnam! We spent time in Saigon, Hoi An, Hue, Tam Coc (Ninh Binh), Hanoi and Halong Bay and 3 very memorable days in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We travelled by plane, boats, small bus, scooters, motorbike, jeep, private cars and cyclo's. We booked it all ourselves and often used a 'Grab' (Vietnamese 'Uber') car or scooter. I'm sure you've heard it before, but the people of Vietnam AND Cambodia are just so incredible. Friendly, helpful and genuinely want you to enjoy yourself in their country. The food is really just so tasty and fresh. And the coffee ... we come from a country that prides ourself in our coffee, but Vietnam has perfected the art, Salted Coffee is exceptional! We booked a lot of the various morning or afternoon tours or walks from NZ but its very possible to do it from your hotel. Our advice would be pre-book it if its something you really don't want to miss out on. Some exceptional tours for us were https://backofthebiketours.com/ in Saigon (night food tour), https://oldcompasstravel.com/ for the Cu Chi tunnels (a good 'off the beaten path' tour), https://journeycambodia.rezgo.com/ 2 day Angkor Wat private tour, https://hanoibackstreettours.com/ Hoi An Jeep tour of the countryside, they also did an amazing motorbike tour in Hanoi city. We can HIGHLY recommend the hotel we stayed at in Siem Reap, Cambodia https://www.templation.asia/ High quality, outstanding and stunning and under $NZ200 a night! 00:00 - Day 7 | Arrival from Cambodia in Da Nang onto Hoi An, Hotel & Evening. 03:13 - Day 8 | Hǒi An Basket Boats and avBackroad Jeep tour. 08:12 - Day 9 | Hôi An to Huē by car, Water mountain. 12:01 - Day 10 | Imperial City, Thiěn Mu Pagoda, Lång Khaai Dinh 18:52 - Day 11 | Dong Ba Market, Hue Historic Citadel, Lang Tu Duc Music from https://elements.envato.com and Fail Forward by Taji and Gavin Brivik (theme song to 'The Pitt)
