FREKANSZOUK • CHRISTIAN PRESENT parle de WEST INDIES - Chimin Yan

Christian Présent is one of the unassuming voices that nonetheless left an indelible mark on the history of zouk. Born in Châteaubeuf, Martinique, he joined the group West Indies alongside three other musicians and established his distinctive vocal style in the 1990s zouk scene with quiet elegance. His breakthrough came with Sonia Pinel-Féréol. "Chimin Yan," this duet in Creole, became an instant hit from the very first notes—two voices answering each other with the complicity of those who speak the same language of the heart. A timeless melody that transcends generations without aging, reaching even the diasporas of Central Africa. But Christian Présent's career doesn't end there. In 1993, he collaborated with Princess Lover on another classic: "Mizik Lanmou," from the album Backline, written and composed by Jean Luc Guanel—two complementary timbres on an enveloping zouk love track. Confirmation of a voice that always chooses its collaborators wisely. Find FrekansZouk on TikTok and Instagram: @FrekansZouk
