A distinction is made between the common central form and the less common renal form. The cause of the central form is a deficiency of the so-called antidiuretic hormone (ADH), while the renal form is caused by the kidneys' failure to respond to this hormone. The disease can be both inherited and acquired. Those affected suffer from increased excretion of unconcentrated urine and, as a result, a compulsive feeling of thirst. Treatment options vary depending on the form of the disease. 1 in 25,000 people develop symptoms related to diabetes insipidus. Many underlying factors such as trauma, infections, or tumors can lead to diabetes insipidus. Renal diabetes insipidus is much rarer than central diabetes insipidus. Symptoms of diabetes insipidus: 1. Frequent urination (more than 5-25 liters per day) 2. Frequent urination at night (= nocturia) 3. Compulsive thirst 4. Excretion of unconcentrated urine Renal diabetes insipidus also causes: 1. Dry mouth 2. Visual disturbances 3. Dehydration of the body (so-called 'exsiccosis') ▬ Via this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ With With "Video Visit Dr. Weigl," you've found the current, medical-scientific channel that describes topics related to medicine and health in an understandable way, but based on facts, guidelines, and studies.
