Twentynine Palms Airport (KTNP) | The ULTIMATE Pilots Guide with Pilots Lounge & Airport Tour
Patreon: / outsidethecockpit Fly with us in our Piper Arrow into desolate Twentynine Palms Airport (KTNP) onto Runway 26. We’ll talk about why we’re glad this airport exists, the personal meaning behind this airport and give you a tour of the airport on the ground. PROTIP: Get the weather at this airport by activating the AWOS with three clicks. Four clicks will give you a radio check. TRANSIENT PARKING There is transient parking here, pick from any of the spots south of the Pilots Lounge. All parking spots have chain tie downs. Don’t forget to pay your overnight fees inside the Pilots Lounge. Overnight Fees are: $8 / single engine $13 / multi engine FUEL Self-service fuel is available and located just east of the Pilots Lounge. Fuel is reasonably priced, the pump appeared to be functioning during our visit. RESTROOMS Restrooms are located inside of the Pilots Lounge which is open 24/7. Read the sign adjacent to the door for the code to access the lounge. The lounge also has water and snacks with a honor system for payment. You’ll also find oil if needed. CREW CAR / RENTAL/RIDESHARE You won’t find any crew cars here and getting a rental delivered will be a challenge. Even rideshare could be difficult out here. Our suggestion is to make arrangements ahead of visiting if you plan to go off-field. FOOD There aren’t any restaurants on the field. If you got west about 7 miles you’ll be in Twentynine Palms proper and can find quite a few places to eat. The north entrance to Joshua Tree is located about 10 miles from the airport. This only gets you to the entrance and of course there are miles of roads beyond that to get to hiking trails and campsites. We still haven’t found an efficient way of accessing Joshua Tree from the airport, if you’ve successfully made your way into the park, let us know how! This is a great airport for peaceful visit. The adjacent mountains provide the perfect backdrop to a vast everchanging landscape. The easily accessed restrooms and pilots lounge make for a perfect rest stop on your way to/from your final stop. Just be sure to pay for any snacks or oil you take. See the Marines takeover this airport as part of their training: • Marines seize Twentynine Palms Airport Thanks for watching!
