2026 Chittenden County State's Attorney Primary Election Virtual Forum
Six regional organizations and their members on Wednesday, June 24th, heard directly from incumbent Chittenden County State's Attorney Sarah George (D) and challenger Franklin County State's Attorney Bram Kranichfeld (D) as they discussed their distinct visions for accountability, diversion structures, victim support, and the future of justice in Chittenden County. Public safety, retail theft, accountability, and the quality of life in our commercial centers remain the most critical challenges facing Northwest Vermont’s business owners, workers, and residents. The decisions made by the Chittenden County State’s Attorney profoundly shape our local justice system, the enforcement of laws, and the economic vitality of our region. The primary election is August 11th, and the winner of that election will likely face no opponent in the November general election, making the August primary potentially the only opportunity Chittenden County voters have to decide who will serve them as State's Attorney for the next four years.
