Explaining with an example: Let's say our model includes 5 variables. In this case, according to Stevens (1996), 5 x 15 = 75 participants is sufficient for testing this model. The same sample size of 50+(8x5)=90 is sufficient for Tabachnick and Fidell (2007) citation.
