Decoding HENGE Monuments! What Were They For?

Henges are enormous Neolithic Age earthworks that litter the British Isles. In spite of their vast sizes and numbers, their function has never been conclusively determined. They are often associated with other monuments such as megalithic stone circles, timber posts and cursuses which run for many kilometres. It's becoming increasingly clear that they were part of large ritual landscapes which included burial monuments such as round barrows and passage tombs and that some sort of ceremonies took place within them. However, the nature of these rituals isn't known with any certainty. In this video I'm talking henges. What is one, what isn't one and what are the different types? I look at some of the most incredible examples in the British Isles including Thornborough Henges and the largest one every discovered! I also explain why Stonehenge isn't technically a henge and I discuss the possible functions these huge earthworks may have had.
