MRU - ZAPOMNIANY PZ.W.724

In today's episode, we take a closer look at one of the most interesting structures of the Międzyrzecz Fortified Area – Panzerwerk 724. Although we mainly see it from the outside, its shape and preserved details are incredibly impressive and give an idea of the power of the former Oder-Warta Line. 🔍 What's worth knowing about the Pz.W. 724? Durability: It was built to the B alt standard (1.5-meter-thick walls), which gave it great resistance to fire. Mission: It served a combat function, blocking approaches to strategically important points and cooperating with neighboring structures as part of a crossfire system. Armature: It was originally equipped with machine gun mounts (including in armored cupolas) and observation devices, whose design still commands respect today. Fun Fact: The Pz.W. 724 is part of a section that was considered crucial during the defense in 1945. Characteristic features of this structure include preserved operational markings on the concrete and the unique terrain around the entrance, which was intended to hinder enemy infantry approach. Despite the passage of time, the concrete shell holds up remarkably well, and the camouflage with vegetation allows the structure to blend seamlessly into the Lubusz landscape.
