AES : Le Capitaine Ibrahim TRAORÉ appelle à l’unité et à la souveraineté

On the occasion of the traditional flag-raising ceremony on Monday, July 6, 2026, Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo echoed the message to the nation from the President of Burkina Faso, Head of State and current Chairman of the Confederation of Sahel States, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. This message marks the second anniversary of the creation of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). In his message, the President of Burkina Faso recalled that the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States on September 16, 2023, and then that of the Confederation of Sahel States on July 6, 2024, reflect the shared commitment of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to building a space founded on solidarity, sovereignty, collective security, and development. Two years after the Confederation's establishment, President Ibrahim Traoré expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in several areas. He specifically cited the strengthening of political and diplomatic cooperation, the increasing effectiveness of the coordination of combat forces in the fight against terrorism, the consolidation of confederal institutions, and progress towards deeper economic integration between the three states.
