Lovely little Superior’s got plenty to offer its visitors, from stunning scenery to fantastic trails to a bit of Arizona history. Tucked up against the base of the Apache Leap Mountains and surrounded by Tonto National Forest, Superior is situated along the “division line” of three geophysical features – the Arizona-Sonoran desert, the valley and plateaus of Central Arizona, and majestic mountain ranges that boast waterfalls and winter snow. Explore the 98-mile Apache Trail on State Route 88 and admire the saguaro cacti, mountain and desert views, and four lakes created by dams along the Salt River. This area will give you a deeper appreciation for Arizona’s diversity. You’ll also want to check out the red-streaked cliffs of the Apache Leap Mountains. Why the name? Legend has it that Apaches jumped from these cliffs rather than surrender to U.S. troops. Nearby, learn about the Magma Copper Company Mine – the state’s largest underground mine – or pay a visit to Oak Flats campground or Boyce Thompson Arboretum, displaying more than 10,000 desert plants in its beautiful grounds. In town, stroll the town three historic districts, or tour the home of Bob Jones, Arizona's 6th governor, operated by the Superior Historical Society as a museum.Download oin this chann/Users/jeffreyschreckler/Desktop/License_823483 - 2022-2025-2.pdfel to get access to perks: / @madhistory MAD HISTORY ..
