Histoire d'un Malgré-nous ( partie 1 )
Now 98 years old, Brother Hugues Steinmetz, a Franciscan friar, recounts his youth during the annexation of Alsace by Germany in 1940. As a teenager, he resisted the occupiers with the limited resources available to his classmates. But in 1943, after a medical examination, he was drafted into the German army and sent to the Eastern Front. Like so many others, he became one of the "Malgré-nous" (those forced into the German army against their will).
