Pruning the tops of chili plants aims to stimulate the emergence of new shoots, which are expected to produce new branches. Each branch will produce its own flower buds and fruit buds, thus increasing the potential for a higher yield. This method applies to all types of chilies, both cayenne peppers and curly peppers. Pruning the tops of chilies in the nursery can be done starting in the third week, as they are tall enough and have more than five leaves. The stems above the fifth leaf can be pruned.
