The third-generation Skoda Octavia has undergone a facelift, and while it might previously have been considered a boring example of the Czech brand, the split headlights have made it anything but boring. Perhaps a bit ugly, or perhaps a bit quirky, but certainly not boring. If that was the designers' goal, they certainly nailed it. What else has changed in the Octavia, besides the headlights? Don't look for any changes to the front-wheel-drive Octavia's engine technology: the engines for Russia remain the same. These include a naturally aspirated 1.6L (110 hp), a 1.4L (150 hp), and a 1.8L (180 hp) turbocharged engine, with the same gearboxes. Now, however, an all-wheel-drive version with a 1.8L (180 hp) engine and a liftback body is entering our market. These versions will be supplied from the Czech Republic, along with the station wagons and RS sports versions. In addition to the headlights, the exterior features updated front and rear bumpers, grille, hood scoop, and taillights—all in keeping with the Volkswagen tradition: subtle yet elegant. The interior has seen few changes: some trim materials have been updated, but more importantly, you can now order a new head unit with a 9.2-inch screen! However, the manual volume knob will be gone, leaving only touch-sensitive buttons. I've yet to meet anyone who prefers them more than the classic knob. The unit itself is excellent: it has a beautiful interface, is fast, and syncs with your phone; if you don't mind spending the money, order it. Today we'll tell you about the new 1.8L version. The 4x4 liftback version starts at 1,668,000 rubles, while the base Octavia starts at 940,000 rubles for a 1.6-liter engine and manual transmission.
