Per il Ciclo Alla Corte dei Tarocchi - Andrea Vitali racconta La Scala Mistica dei Tarocchi

TALES IN THE GARDEN For the "At the Court of the Tarot" series - Andrea Vitali discusses the Mystical Ladder of the Tarot Andrea Vitali will guide us through the first and oldest sequence of the Major Arcana of the Tarot (Triumphs), as composed by an anonymous religious figure between the 15th and 16th centuries. This sequence reveals the Christian Mystical Ladder. The number 22, in its Christian meaning, represents the introduction to the divine doctrine and teachings imprinted upon humanity, just as the Old Testament contains 22 books. The sequence of the Triumphs, through play, was therefore intended to teach the non-believer, represented by the Fool, the path to God: overcoming vices through recourse to virtues and meditation on the precariousness of human life, with eyes and mind turned toward Heaven. A Journey of the Fool ante litteram, from which even today those who have lost their spiritual path can draw unexpected and precious lessons. Andrea Vitali, a medieval historian, musicologist, and filmmaker, pioneered the iconological study of the Tarot Triumphs (Major Arcana) in Italy in the 1980s. Over the next forty years of studying medieval imagery, he fully deciphered the allegories and symbolism of the ancient decks, an activity for which he is recognized as an internationally recognized authority. He has devoted himself to historical research, particularly in literature, anthropology, religion, philosophy, and the game of Tarot from the 15th to the 19th century. In addition to chairing the scientific committees of the most important exhibitions held in Italy on the subject, he has lectured at universities and cultural institutes in Italy and abroad. In 1985, he founded the Le Tarot Cultural Association, of which he is president. www.letarot.it
