Teaching baby to swim should be fun and enjoyable for parent and child. The learn to swim process can start at any age but I believe that starting the learn to swim process as early as possible provides many social, emotional and physical benefits. Most swim schools start swimming lessons between 3 and 6 months of age. Our family has taught babies to swim in Australia for the past 45 years. We like to start swimming lessons when children are 4 months of age. But if you haven’t started teaching your child to swim from an early age remember any age is the ideal time to start. Learning to swim follows a building block approach. All children are encouraged to process through the learn to swim process at their own individual pace. Making sure babies and young children feel safe and secure is vital when teaching swimming. We always teach swimming with love and respect towards the baby and their caregiver.
