5/31/2026 OBC Osprey: Floppy fish sends chick #2 flying

From ‪@obxospreycam‬ on May 31, 2026: Chick #2 is flung out of the nest bowl by a twitchy fish. C2 makes its way back to the nest bowl by the end. Some timestamps: 8:09:15: Fredrick brings whole perch to the nest. She feeds the chicks. 8:10:04: Betsy defends against an unknown intruder osprey. 8:10:50: Fredrick leaves the nest. 8:16:27: Fish spasms; Betsy lets go of it, as if done with feeding. 8:16:33: Fish flops around, chick #2 ends up underneath it. 8:17:16: C2 sitting on the tail aka the ejector seat. 8:17:33: Fish flops, sends C2 flying over Betsy and across the nest. C1 goes belly-up. Can now see the head end of the fish still spasming reflexively. 8:18:46: C2 rolls towards Betsy. 8:21:17: C2 is back in the nest bowl; Betsy tucks it in.
