Phil Collins - Interview April 1978

On April 9, 1978 Genesis played in Bloomington, Indiana at Assembly Hall on the campus of Indiana University. Neil Sharrow worked as a DJ at the campus radio station WQAX and had interviewed Phil Collins 4 years earlier on Genesis' Selling England by the Pound Tour. Neil was able to interview Phil again, just before they were due to take the stage on their And Then There Were Three Tour. Phil discusses the many personnel changes in the band, b-sides, and his future solo career. This interview was in much better condition than most, at a radio station with high quality audio, so I didn't have to do as much surgery this time. Mostly balancing the EQ and minor noise reduction during the earlier segment's ambient noises. While maybe not as earth shattering as other interviews we've produced, it is still a fairly long candid interview with Phil with some great moments. genesismuseum.com Produced and Copyright Neil Sharrow and The Genesis Museum 00:00 Intro 00:52 Tour schedule 02:08 Stage band / Personnel changes 08:41 Improvising on stage 11:20 Bill Bruford 13:04 Seconds Out 14:30 Brand X 15:42 B-sides 20:10 Songwriting process 24:44 Future direction of music / Genesis 26:54 Solo projects 28:41 Tonight's show
