St. Herman Orthodox Christian Church in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Service. Interview.
A few hundred kilometers north of Alaska's capital city, Anchorage, lies the town of Fairbanks. It was founded in the early 20th century during the Alaska Gold Rush. One of Fairbanks' main attractions is a monument to Soviet and American pilots, erected in memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. There used to be an airfield here where our pilots took over the air relay. From 1942 to 1945, under the Lend-Lease program, thousands of combat aircraft traveled from American factories through Alaska, the Bering Strait, and Siberia to the front. This was the Alaska-Siberia air route, or AlSiB for short. Fairbanks is also home to the northernmost Orthodox church in America. It was built in 1992 and consecrated in honor of St. Herman of Alaska. https://aerialphoto.ru/
