A Mid Summer Trim of My Serissa, The Bonsai Zone, July 2025
My Serissa needs a light prune to continue growing the canopy out evenly over the summer. My Serissa japonica is styled in the Pierneef form, inspired by the Acacia trees of Africa. Serissa japonica is a flowering plant in the family Rubiaceae. It is the only species in the genus Serissa. It is native to open sub-tropical woodlands and wet meadows in southeast Asia, from India, and China to Japan. It's common names are "snowrose", "tree of a thousand stars", and "Japanese boxthorn".
