In her presentation, Sara Anzani examines the Court of Appeal’s recent revisiting of the “unduly harsh” test and other key concepts. Jamil Dhanji then explores recent case law to consider the question of whether being a ‘home grown criminal’ has any relevance to the assessment of proportionality in deportation appeals. Goldsmith immigration and public Law team were also delighted that Luke de Noronah, author of 'Deporting Black Britons' was able to join the panel in conversation with Sarah Pinder, join-head of the team. Together they touched on the issues raised by criminal deportations, sharing some of the ideas and research from Luke's recently published book 'Deporting Black Britons'.
