Before Reno & Sparks, Early Communities in the Truckee Meadows
Reno was platted in 1868 by the Central Pacific Railroad. Sparks became a town in 1904 when the Southern Pacific bought the Central Pacific and moved the railroad hub from Wadsworth, Nevada the new town of Sparks, just east of Reno. But what about the years 1855 to 1868? The area was dotted with small settlements. This presentation takes a look at a few early communities, that today can only be found in historical archives.
