TEST DE COURSE NAVETTE
Shuttle Run Test The Shuttle Run Test, also called the Léger Test or "beeping test," is a field test that measures cardiorespiratory endurance and estimates maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max). It consists of running between two lines 20 meters apart, following a beeping signal that progressively increases in speed. It starts at 8.5 km/h and increases by 0.5 km/h every minute. The test ends when the participant fails to reach the line twice consecutively before the beep. It is widely used in schools, sports clubs, and law enforcement agencies. Its main advantages are that it is easy to implement, inexpensive, motivating, and allows for the evaluation of large groups in confined spaces. 🧠 What does it measure? Estimated VO₂max Maximum aerobic speed (MAS) Tolerance for progressive exertion Changes of direction ability 📏 Formula for calculating VO₂max: VO₂max = 5.857 × Final speed (km/h) – 19.458 ✅ Ideal for: School physical education Sports selection Personalized training Assistance performance evaluation ⚠️ Important: Requires a warm-up and is not recommended without supervision for individuals with heart conditions. 📚 Bibliography: Léger, L. & Lambert, J.
